Our Heart – Nurturing & Caring

A Legacy of Care.

One of our Kingswood House School superpowers has always been our pastoral care along with our belief in every single child and their abilities. While our classrooms have modernized since 1945, the core philosophy has never changed: a child who feels safe, secure, and loved is a child who will flourish. As an alumnus, you will remember the small class sizes and the teachers who went the extra mile. Today, that nurturing spirit is stronger than ever. We continue to prioritise the well-being of our pupils above all else, ensuring that Kingswood House remains a sanctuary of kindness in a busy world. A recent visitor was one of our old Head boys from 1974 Simon Smith (1969-1974) who had so many wonderful anecdotes about his time here at the school. He wasn't the first Old Kingswoodian to remember the above ground swimming pool in the courtyard or the wonderful rock concerts held on the stage kindly donated by Harry Secombe.

We love welcoming you back and hearing about your memories from your time here. Spotting your brick is also a highlight and a wonderful tradition that has been going since the school first began.

In 1933 the school started to transition from boarding to day and by the 1960's it became an exclusively day school. You may remember boarding here – we'd love to hear from you if you do and any stories about your time here.

The dining room is still a central hub of school life and apart from lunch every day it is used for various clubs and gatherings. We even recently hosted a Community feeding group in there, with parents, where we made over 1,000 meals for local homeless charities. The school now has 214 pupils on roll and we no longer have linen tablecloths. The quality and excellence of the food has not diminished and the menu below gives you an idea of what the current pupils have the opportunity to eat each week. Our caterers Thomas Franks provides excellent, well balanced and nourishing food for us all.
